The Robot's Message

from MECHA by The Eyes And The Mistoids

/

lyrics

**AND MECHA FELL SILENT, THE GREAT DEATH RAY AIMED AT THE HARBOUR LOWERING, AND THE LIGHTS OF HER EYES DIMMING. THOSE ONSHORE WHO HAD NOT FLED SAW WHAT APPEARED TO BE A MACHINE POWERING DOWN.
INSIDE THE ROBOT THE WORKERS DESPERATELY TRIED TO REGAIN CONTROL TO NO AVAIL. MECHA HAD SPOKEN AND IN DOING SO SOUNDED HER OWN DEATH KNELL, HER ONLY WISH SIMPLY NOT TO FIGHT. IN THE DEPTHS OF HER MIND A FORM OF SENTIENCE HAD FOUND ITS VOICE, THE ROBOT BUILT ONLY FOR DESTRUCTION REJECTING ITS SOLE PURPOSE.
AND AS THE TROOPS CLOSED IN, AND AS THE FIRST MISSILES WERE FIRED AT HER MASSIVE, UNMOVING FORM, SHE SENT OUT AN ELECTRONIC MESSAGE BROADCAST ON EVERY FREQUENCY; A FAREWELL TO THE WORLD AND TO THOSE WHO HAD CREATED HER**

I haven't been upon this world for long
Yet so much strikes me as so very wrong
You rule your corners with an iron fist
Yet seem so scared by things that don't exist
I know I'm just a thing of steel and ore
I've never had a single thought before
But if this violence is the best you've got
I'd rather die than take a single shot
At you

They tried to build a robot
So powerful it could never be stopped
They could've strived for so much more
Ready to sound the war cry
Driven to arms, enemies on each side
Trapped in a world so beautiful

They tried to build a robot
