The Robot 05:07
**AN INTERCEPTED CODED DOCUMENT REVEALED THE ROGUE STATE OF NEW JAPAN TO BE WORKING ON SOMETHING OF SIGNIFICANCE DEEP UNDERGROUND. RUMOURS TOLD OF A GIGANTIC MECHANOID, TALLER THAN A SKYSCRAPER, CAPABLE OF LEVELLING ENTIRE CITIES. THE MILITARY DID NOT TAKE SUCH A THREAT SERIOUSLY** They're going to build a robot So powerful it could never be stopped It's going to stand into the sky Ready to sound the war cry Driven to arms, enemies on each side Heaven to earth; they'll take it all MECHA
2.
**THE AIRSTRIKES CAME OUT OF THE BLUE, CARRIED OUT BY FIGHTER JETS OF A KIND NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THE ATTACKS WERE SWIFT AND EFFICIENT, FOCUSSED SOLELY ON THE NAVAL BASE SOME MILES OUTSIDE OF THE CITY. NEARBY CARRIERS RUSHED TO SCRAMBLE EVERY PLANE THEY HAD AT THEIR DISPOSAL, AND SO BEGAN THE BATTLE FOR THE SKIES**

The City 04:10
**AND SO WE SEE THE CAPITAL; CITY OF THE FREE. THE WORLD'S LARGEST METROPOLIS** **MEANWHILE, IN THE DEPTHS OF THE OCEAN CREPT MECHA. SILENT AND INVISIBLE TO THE SHIPS FAR ABOVE HER, PEOPLED BY JUST A FEW - AN UNFORTUNATE CREW CONFINED TO A BARELY LIVEABLE SECTION IN HER HEAD - NOT IN CONTROL BUT MERELY CARETAKERS OF THE LARGEST WEAPONISED MACHINE EVER BUILT; PROGRAMMED ONLY FOR DESTRUCTION**
4.
**DEEP INSIDE THE SKULL OF THE ROBOT, A MEMBER OF THE CREW SPOTTED AN ANOMALY IN THE PROGRAMMING. CURIOUS, HE DELVED DEEPER**

There's a ghost in the machine And I don't know what it means Hidden inside the holes Of all the numbers and the codes And I've checked the system through Little else that I could do Watching nature run its course Just like a virus takes it's host There's a ghost in the machine And I can't see what it means Hiding inbetween the cracks And the system can't fight back And if I told a single soul They'd simply throw me in the hold For mine is not to reason why Mine is but to do and die There's a ghost in the machine And I'm scared by what it means Like we've programmed a mistake And it's gonna seal our fates Just above the ocean floor Hotter than the planet's core Feels like something's gotta give It's almost like she wants to live There's a ghost in the machine

**A STORM WAS BREWING, WAVES CRASHING AGAINST THE WALLS OF THE HARBOUR. AS DAY DREW INTO NIGHT IT BEGAN TO RAIN, THOSE STILL WALKING ALONG THE WATER'S EDGE RUNNING FOR SHELTER. NOBODY SAW WHAT WAS RISING FROM THE SEA, NOT UNTIL THE FIRST CRACK OF LIGHTNING ILLUMINATED ITS HULKING METAL FORM. MECHA'S EYES LIT UP, PIERCING YELLOW LIGHTS SEEKING OUT THEIR TARGETS AS SHE STRODE INEXORABLY TOWARDS THE CITY'S EDGE. AS PANDEMONIUM BROKE OUT ONSHORE SHE OPENED HER MOUTH AND SOUNDED THE BATTLE CRY** People! Prepare to meet your fate At the hands of our machine from a century of hate Behold! The bringer of your demise You can try to get away but there's nowhere left to hide There's no hope Revenge will be so sweet We'll show no mercy Our victory will complete MECHA Enemies! Fall down to your knees You can brace for the descent but you'll never make us bleed Mecha! Raise your arm! Prepare to fire the death ray! I WILL NOT FIGHT

**AND MECHA FELL SILENT, THE GREAT DEATH RAY AIMED AT THE HARBOUR LOWERING, AND THE LIGHTS OF HER EYES DIMMING. THOSE ONSHORE WHO HAD NOT FLED SAW WHAT APPEARED TO BE A MACHINE POWERING DOWN. INSIDE THE ROBOT THE WORKERS DESPERATELY TRIED TO REGAIN CONTROL TO NO AVAIL. MECHA HAD SPOKEN AND IN DOING SO SOUNDED HER OWN DEATH KNELL, HER ONLY WISH SIMPLY NOT TO FIGHT. IN THE DEPTHS OF HER MIND A FORM OF SENTIENCE HAD FOUND ITS VOICE, THE ROBOT BUILT ONLY FOR DESTRUCTION REJECTING ITS SOLE PURPOSE. AND AS THE TROOPS CLOSED IN, AND AS THE FIRST MISSILES WERE FIRED AT HER MASSIVE, UNMOVING FORM, SHE SENT OUT AN ELECTRONIC MESSAGE BROADCAST ON EVERY FREQUENCY; A FAREWELL TO THE WORLD AND TO THOSE WHO HAD CREATED HER** I haven't been upon this world for long Yet so much strikes me as so very wrong You rule your corners with an iron fist Yet seem so scared by things that don't exist I know I'm just a thing of steel and ore I've never had a single thought before But if this violence is the best you've got I'd rather die than take a single shot At you They tried to build a robot So powerful it could never be stopped They could've strived for so much more Ready to sound the war cry Driven to arms, enemies on each side Trapped in a world so beautiful They tried to build a robot
